“I’m a girl who gets overwhelmed with too many options and choosing McConnell House made other decisions so much easier, especially with less of them to make and less decor needed with such an already fabulous place!  To anyone planning a wedding, I say be true to yourself and don’t let the “etiquette” totally get in your way.  I admit that it helped that our parents were great about not enforcing old school rules and supporting our decisions.  My husband and his groomsmen wore trendy jeans and my girls wore gray dresses of their choice.  Having our friends be comfortable and feel good about themselves was important to us and in the end, I think it made for a better atmosphere. Everything about our wedding was totally us – there were moments that were traditional and there were ones that were totally casual and fun. Our wedding was everything we loved and that made our guests love it too.  My husband’s uncle stood on the edge of the dance floor the entire evening just taking it in (I should note that my husband only left the dance floor to grab a drink or potty the entire night….I wasn’t sure I married the man I had known with all the dancing skills he showed off!).  His uncle later told us that he just really enjoyed seeing so many people having a genuinely good time.  And, that’s what I recommend.  Make it genuine and make it you and have a blast!!”

We had a great time working with Megan & Kevin on their Spring 2012 wedding at McConnell House.  All of Megan’s details made this navy, yellow & burlap wedding a beautiful fit for the exposed brick and hardwood floors in our Downtown Franklin venue.  We created a custom menu to fit the couple’s taste and style.
